Louder Than Life 2026 had everything. Scorching heat, a weather evacuation, a 40 year homecoming, and a tribute that hit everybody right in the chest.
Thursday belonged to Iron Maiden, playing Kentucky for the first time in four decades. Fifty years as a band and they closed with Wasted Years. Megadeth tore through nine songs on their farewell tour. Forty three years, and they are still out here doing it.
Saturday was Limp Bizkit's night, closing with Break Stuff, Nookie, and Rollin. Then Gaige Rivers joined them for Behind Blue Eyes, honoring her late father Sam Rivers. Try not getting emotional at a Limp Bizkit set. I dare you.
Sunday gave us Danny Elfman's first eastern US show in almost ten years, full orchestra, Simpsons theme and all, and he asked to be invited back. Then Tool closed the whole thing, Maynard less than a month out from hip surgery, playing Stinkfist like it was nothing.
Oh, and it was 110 degrees with a two hour storm evacuation on Friday. Louisville does not do easy festival weekends. Nobody cared.
