The Black Parade turns 20 and it is getting the full treatment

My Chemical Romance announced an expanded 20th anniversary edition of The Black Parade for October 23, with B-sides, live cuts from a tiny 2007 Hoboken show, and new art from the artist behind the original look.

Twenty years later, this record still marches.

My Chemical Romance announced an expanded 20th anniversary edition of The Black Parade, out October 23 on Reprise Records. You get the original 14 songs plus six bonus tracks, and the bonus stuff is the part that got me.

Three of them are B-sides from those sessions. The other three are live recordings from October 2007 at Maxwell's in Hoboken, New Jersey. A small room, right in the middle of Parade mania. One of those live cuts is a song fans have chased for years, and a live take on The Sharpest Lives from that same Hoboken show is already up on streaming.

“Twenty years later, this record still marches.”

They also brought back visual artist James Jean, who helped create the original Parade imagery, to make three new pieces of art for this edition. Pre-orders are up in a bunch of formats, vinyl variants included.

The band has been out on a stadium run playing this album in full, so the timing makes sense. If you wore out this record in 2006, October 23 is your day.
