The Format is closing out the year unplugged

Nate Ruess and Sam Means announced a December run of unplugged shows, plus a Hollywood Bowl co-headline with Jimmy Eat World on November 7.

Nearly twenty years between albums will make a fan base patient. The Format is rewarding that patience with a small rooms tour.

Nate Ruess and Sam Means just announced a run of unplugged shows to close out the year, starting December 1 at The Social in Orlando, then Savannah, Memphis, Birmingham, and Oklahoma City, and finishing with two hometown nights at The Nile Theater in Mesa, Arizona on December 10 and 11. Tickets go on sale Friday at noon local time.

“Big room in November, tiny rooms in December.”

The shows back Boycott Heaven, the comeback album they put out earlier this year, their first studio record in nearly two decades. Brendan O'Brien produced it and played bass on it, which tells you the level these two are operating on.

Before the unplugged run, there is a big one: November 7 at the Hollywood Bowl, a co-headline show with Jimmy Eat World built around 25 years of Bleed American and 20 years of Dog Problems. Two Arizona bands, two anniversary albums, one very good night.

Big room in November, tiny rooms in December. I like the range.
