This Is Hardcore turns 20 and goes back to basics

The 20th anniversary of This Is Hardcore lands December 19 at Reverb in Reading, Pennsylvania, with Blood For Blood headlining a one-day bill built from every era of hardcore.

Twenty years of This Is Hardcore, and the anniversary move is my favorite kind: smaller room, lower ticket price, zero fluff. The 20th anniversary edition takes over Reverb in Reading, Pennsylvania on December 19, with Blood For Blood headlining a one-day bill built from every era of hardcore.

The lineup stacks generations on purpose. Wisdom In Chains, Missing Link, Big Ass Truck I.E., All Out War, Shattered Realm, Bayway, Outta Pocket, and a deep undercard of younger bands coming up fast. Old guard, current killers, next wave, one room. That is how a scene hands the torch without a ceremony.

“Old guard, current killers, next wave, one room.”

Organizer Joe Hardcore McKay said the first TIHC happened 20 years ago as a push against the 2005 Hellfest that imploded on the scene, with no influencers and no real sponsors. This year he nearly let the fest rest, then his crew talked him back into it. The plan went back to a privately owned venue in Reading, one ticket through DICE, priced as low as they could make it. Tickets went on sale October 16.

A lot of festivals celebrate 20 years by getting bigger and pricier. This one celebrates by getting back in a room in Reading in December with Blood For Blood on top. Correct answer.
