The Interview

Oderus Urungus (Dave Brockie) of GWAR

Legend

Moe Train, a stage at Bonnaroo, and Oderus Urungus in full regalia. The GWAR interview happened in person, MTT mics in hand, and the photos on this page are the record of it.

Moe Train does his interviews in person, and this one happened up on a stage at Bonnaroo, in front of the festival's own backdrop. Two director's chairs. Moe in one, mic in hand. Oderus Urungus in the other, in full GWAR armor, an MTT mic of his own.

Oderus was the frontman of GWAR, and the man inside the costume was Dave Brockie. Brockie founded GWAR, sang for it, built its monsters and ran the whole glorious mess. There was nobody else like him on a festival grounds, and Moe Train got him one on one.

No recording of this interview sits in the Moe Train's Tracks archive, and there is no transcript to run, so this page lets the photographs carry it. Up top, the sit-down itself, Moe mid-question and Brockie in full armor beside him. Down here, Oderus up close, MTT mic in one claw and a beer in the other, the Festival 2010 backdrop right behind him.

Dave Brockie died in 2014, and on this site he carries the Legend stamp. GWAR still tours. The original frontman is right here, in person, at Bonnaroo, talking to Moe Train.
