Bokassa just called out every sellout band with a single

Norwegian stonerpunk trio Bokassa announced album five, Anomalies, and the new single Cop Out takes shots at bands that quit on their own principles.

I have a new band to bug you about, and they gave the best quotes of any press release this week.

Bokassa are a Norwegian power trio playing what they call stonerpunk, which is exactly what it sounds like. Punk, metal, groove rock, desert riffs, all thrown in a blender. They have toured with Clutch, Mastodon, and Zebrahead. Three bands that do not share a bill unless everyone is loud.

New album Anomalies lands March 12, 2027 on their own label, and the new single Cop Out is out now. The song is aimed at bands that hang on too long and turn into everything they used to hate. Singer Jorn Kaarstad name-checked overpriced VIP meet and greets, empty buzzword lyrics, and TikTok dance videos as the warning signs. He also said he does not want to waste his life chasing views when there are still pizzas out there he has not tried. A man of principle.

The record is produced by two:

time Grammy winner Adrian Bushby, who has worked with Foo Fighters and Muse, and mastered by George Perks. Kaarstad says the songs run from groove metal and hardcore to powerpop, with clean vocals, hardcore screams, and death metal growls, tackling everything from state coups to leprechauns. I need to hear this immediately.

They tour Norway, the UK, and Europe through spring 2027. Start with Cop Out and tell me I am wrong.
