Stop what you are doing, because this is the reunion metalcore fans have been daydreaming about for almost fifteen years. Howard Jones and Adam Dutkiewicz are making music together again, in a new band called Burn Eternal, and they just signed to Metal Blade Records.

For anyone who needs the history lesson, and you should not need it: Jones sang and Dutkiewicz played guitar in Killswitch Engage together from 2002 to 2012. That run gave us The End Of Heartache and As Daylight Dies, two records that basically built modern metalcore and then furnished the whole house. As Daylight Dies is still the best selling Killswitch record to date. That is the era. That is the team.
“Lunch, then an album. Lunch is undefeated.”
Moe Train
Now the part that makes this more than a nice headline. The debut album is already done. Jones says the whole thing started as an idea over lunch in London and turned into a finished record and a way to reconnect with his friend. I love that. No five year teaser campaign. Lunch, then an album. Lunch is undefeated.
Adam, in peak Adam fashion, says it feels great to be back in the studio with an old friend and describes the two of them as goofballs messing around in the studio again. Metal Blade boss Brian Slagel, a self described huge fan of both guys, called it a huge honor to bring them into the family. When the label owner sounds like a fan first, that tells you the record has something.
No title, no release date yet, and no song out this second. The band says the first new song is dropping soon. Soon cannot get here fast enough. Burn Eternal lives, indeed, and I am first in line to hear it.
