Screaming Orphans and Albannach Bring the Caloosahatchee Celtic Festival Back to Downtown Fort Myers

The Caloosahatchee Celtic Festival is back for its 23rd year on January 23 and 24, about 40 minutes from my front door, with Screaming Orphans and Albannach leading the music posted so far.

Fort Myers gets loud in a different way this January. The Caloosahatchee Celtic Festival is back for its 23rd year on January 23 and 24, right on the downtown riverfront, and it's about 40 minutes from my front door. Close to home counts.

The featured acts posted so far are Screaming Orphans and Albannach. The Orphans are four sisters out of Ireland with trad roots and real rock muscle. Albannach is the other end of the Celtic spectrum: drums and pipes at full volume. Add Irish step dancing and Highland Games demos and you've got a full weekend.

Moe Train

The festival's timed schedule is still to come, so more names land between now and January. When a small city-run festival books touring acts like these, the artists are reachable in a way the big festival circuit never allows. That's the whole appeal for me.

Coverage plans include: in-person interviews with the touring acts, photo coverage of the music and the Highland Games demos, and a same-weekend recap on moetrainstracks.com.
