Massive Attack just took the top spot at Rock Werchter 2027

Massive Attack headlines opening day on July 1, 2027 at Festivalpark Werchter, with Tame Impala, Muse, Sam Fender, and Turnstile also confirmed for the four day run.

Rock Werchter just put a heavy name at the top of day one, and Belgian summer 2027 got a whole lot more interesting.

Massive Attack headlines the opening day of Rock Werchter 2027 on Thursday, July 1 at Festivalpark Werchter in Belgium. The festival runs July 1 to 4, and the confirmed names around them tell you what kind of weekend this is: Tame Impala, Muse, Sombr, Angele, Sam Fender, and Turnstile are all on the bill.

That is a wild mix on paper, and I love it. Trip hop royalty opening the festival, Muse and Tame Impala in the same weekend, and Turnstile ready to start a pit somewhere on the grounds. Werchter has never been a one sound festival, and 2027 is leaning all the way into that.

“Put that catalog on a festival main stage after dark and you have a headline set people will talk about on the train home.”

Moe Train

Massive Attack formed in 1988, led by Robert Del Naja, known as 3D, and Grant Marshall, known as Daddy G. Blue Lines arrived in 1991, Mezzanine in 1998, and songs like Teardrop, Unfinished Sympathy, and Angel still sound like they came from the future. Put that catalog on a festival main stage after dark and you have a headline set people will talk about on the train home.

The full timetable lands later on the festival site and app. For now, day one has its headliner, and it is a big one.
