Tampa gives two Saturdays to pirates every January, and 2027 is already circled on my calendar. Children's Gasparilla runs January 23, and Gasparilla Pirate Fest lands January 30, with the pirate invasion and the Parade of Pirates rolling through Tampa in front of a crowd the city puts at over 300,000.

No celebrity grand marshal has been announced yet, and honestly this event doesn't need one. The ship is the star. The Jose Gasparilla sails in, the krewe takes the city, and the whole waterfront turns into the loudest costume party in Florida. Children's Gasparilla runs alcohol-free a week earlier, which makes it the cleaner family version of the same beautiful chaos.
“The ship is the star.”

I've covered a lot of Florida weekends, and nothing else looks like this. A full-size pirate ship docking downtown while a few hundred thousand people lose their minds is a scene you point a camera at and get out of the way.
Coverage plans include: photo coverage of the invasion and the Parade of Pirates, interviews with krewe captains and parade regulars, and same-day recaps on moetrainstracks.com for both Saturdays.
